Posessed were born out of the thriving underground West Midlands rock and blues scene of the mid to late 60's. This was a scene in which band leader Vernon Periera had been a key figure. The band was formed in 1969 when Vernon (who had previously been with Robert Plant in Band of Joy) teamed up with Mick Reeves, who had been playing in (among other bands), Sugarstack with Al Atkins. This was the band that would eventually evolve into the band that became Judas Priest.
"Exploration" was originally intended for release in 1971, Due to various reasons, the album never saw the light of day. The band were finally on the verge of signing a major deal, when tragedy struck. Whilst returning from a gig in 1976, the bands van drove into a parked petrol tanker, taking the lives of the three band members.
This wouldn't have sounded out of place on Vertigo in 1971.
The band had a great heavy dark prog vibe, like Necromandus or Black Widow.
