Night Sun - Mornin' 1972

Night Sun was a German heavy rock band from 1970 to 1973. The group evolved from a late 60's jazz outfit called "Take Five" called themselves Night Sun Mornin'.and released Morin'. Band members Bruno Schaab (bass, vocals), Ulrich Stoudt (drums), Walter Kirchgasser (guitar), and Knut Rossler (organ, trumpet, piano, bassoon) soon dropped the last word of their name and used it for the title of their only album "Mornin'" which came out on Polydor's Zebra label in 1972. The band received many a positive comparison to contemporaries Uriah Heep, Atomic Rooster, and Germany's own Lucifer's Friend. Perhaps it was too eclectic as minor local success is all the band achieved before the band broke up in 1973.

Frontman Shaab gained further recognition when he briefly hooked up with krautrockers Guru Guru, but the rest of Night Sun's roster faded into oblivion with their album becoming a much sought after collector's item. Thank the maker it has been re-issued.
