Warhorse s/t 1970

Formed by Ex-Deep Purple bassist, Nick Simper in 1970. Nick had  quit Deep Purple in 1969 (or was sacked, depending on which version you believe) and joined Marsha Hunt's backup band. Not long after, Simper sacked her backup band, and replaced them for new blood, hiring Ged Peck on guitar, and Nick Poole on drums. Simper was also playing in an extracurricular band with Ged & Nick, as well as singer Ashley Holt. When Hunt got pregnant, the band stopped touring and Simper re-organized the band as Warhorse (not to be confused with the American band of the same name). Holt would do the singing and they brought Rick Wakeman into the fold. But eventually, Wakeman became unreliable, they replaced him when the first demo was recorded, he was replaced with Frank Wilson. The band released two albums on Vertigo before breaking up in 1974.
