Trapeze were an English group born in Cannock, Staffordshire, England in 1969. The band originally featured The Montana's member John Jones, (trumpet, vocals) and Ted Rowley (keyboards), as well as former Finders Keepers member Glen Hughes (bass/vocals/piano) Mel Galley (guitar), Dave Holland (drums), as well from Finders Keepers, (briefly at the beginning). Jones and Rolly left after the release of their self titled solo album in 1970, leaving the band with the line up of Hughes, Galley, and Holland to carry on as a three piece. Following the release of "Medusa" (1970), and ("You're the Music,....We're the "Band") )(1970), Hughes left to join Deep Purple.
Galley and Holland resurfaced with Trapeze a year later, adding second guitarist Rob Kendrick, and bassist Pete Wright to the band. "Hot Wire" was released in 1974, and a self titled album was released in 1975 when Hughes returned after the break up of Deep Purple. After Hughes left again, Trapeze returned in 1978 with new front-man Peter Golby who preformed on the the bands final album "Hold On." Several lineup changes followed, including Holland joining Judas Priest in 1979. The band broke up in 1982 after Galley joined Whitesnake.
